Lindsay Bowman Channels Energetic and Fierce 90’s Country Sound with Music

If you’ve been looking for that energetic and fierce 90’s country sound from iconic artists like Reba, Wynonna, and Martina McBride, I’m proud to introduce you to a new force in the music industry, Lindsay Bowman.
Lindsay grew up in Seaford, Virginia, later relocating to Danville, Virginia. She started singing at age 4, making her solo debut at her grandmother’s church in Danville. Growing up, Lindsay performed anywhere she could get ahold of a microphone, including the church, school, festivals, and also singing the National Anthem at Virginia International Raceway, Langley Speedway, South Boston Speedway, and Martinsville Speedway.
“I’ve been singing since age four. I made my solo debut at my grandmother’s church in Virginia,” explains Lindsay. “I’ve always been most comfortable with a microphone in my hand and on a stage. So I knew as a kid this was a dream I wanted to pursue.“
For the last seven years, Lindsay was part of a popular Nashville duo, Smoke ‘n Guns, traveling across the US playing at venues in Alabama, Virginia, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, and more. The duo had the privilege to open for many national acts, such as Dustin Lynch, The Oak Ridge Boys, Mark Wills, Danielle Bradbery, and Diamond Rio.
“Being a part of a duo for seven years was a great learning experience. I grew so much personally and as an artist,” explains Lindsay. “It was truly a blessing to be able to travel the country and perform for folks all over. We had a great time as Smoke ‘n Guns and we still play together every once in a while because we have so much fun!“
Now, as a solo country artist, Lindsay is continuing to perform in Nashville and across the US sharing her love of country music – old and new. Recently, Lindsay released her first release since departing from the duo titled You Don’t Get To Know.
“I was going through a hard time with a recent breakup when I went in for a co-write with Liz Anne Hill. She knew about the situation, so she asked how it was going and it turned in to sort of a therapy session,” explained Lindsay. “I explained how my ex had been still reaching out to me, asking where I was and who I was with, and one day, I finally told him “you don’t get to know these things anymore.” And I was like “okay, write that down!” And as we were talking, she started writing, and it all came together in about two hours.“
With the success of her debut solo release, Lindsay isn’t slowing down anytime soon. As she continues to keep her career in full force, she’s prepping for a special release later this Summer.
“I’m looking forward to releasing my second single later this summer, Love Me Like You Used To,” explains Lindsay. “I wrote it with Pete Sallis, and while it’s a slower song and a change from my first single, it’s also based on a true story. So, I hope that it will be relatable and I can connect with a lot of people.“

Get to Know Country Artist Lindsay Bowman
“Get To Know” Country Artist Lindsay Bowman
By Steven McCash Posted February 7, 2020 In Music, Nashville 0 0
At all times of the day, the sound of live music engulfs the air while walking up and down the streets of Broadway and 2nd Avenue in downtown Nashville. Honky tonk after honky tonk provides patrons with some of the best talent Music City has to offer seven days a week. The singers and musicians who play throughout the day and night while paying their dues waiting on their big break are the true unsung heroes of the music scene in Nashville.
These aspiring stars come from all over the world with dreams in their eyes hoping to be discovered and one day go from playing Tootsies or Nudie’s to Bridgestone or The Ryman. One of those stars-to-be is Lindsay Bowman. I met up with Bowman recently to discuss her journey since moving to Nashville and her debut single “You Don’t Get To Know.” The Virginia native got her start at an early age, making her stage debut at her grandmother’s church at the ripe old age of four. “I’m pretty sure I was singing coming out of the womb,” Bowman says.
Family is very important to Lindsay, as she grew up singing alongside her mother, even going as far as recording a gospel album with her. “That’s a super special memory that we have,” Bowman says. “I always love singing with my mom whenever I can.”
Before making the jump to Nashville, Lindsay sang anywhere that would give her a microphone, including church, school, festivals, and even as a member of the band “Backstreet.” Bowman also competed in numerous competitions, and was crowned “Miss Danville-Pittsylvania County” in 2009, which led to her being able to sing on live statewide television while competing in the Miss Virginia pageant.
In the fall of 2011, she knew it was time to make the leap and pack everything up and move to Tennessee. Shortly after moving to Nashville, Lindsay met another aspiring female singer and formed the popular Nashville duo Smoke ’n Guns. The duo played up and down lower Broadway for seven years while releasing two EPs. They also traveled throughout the U.S. playing, and also had the opportunity to open for some of country music’s legendary artists like The Oak Ridge Boys, Diamond Rio, and Mark Wills.
In the fall of 2018, Smoke ’n Guns went their separate ways in attempt to find who they are as solo artists. Since then, Lindsay has been hard at work working on her current project and the reward of that hard work is her debut single “You Don’t Get To Know.” She wrote the song with fellow singer-songwriter Liz Anne Hall. “It is unfortunately based on a true story about a break up,” Bowman says when describing the song, “it’s one of those relatable songs where you go through a break-up and the person is still trying to reach out wanting to know what’s going on in your life.”
The female empowering song was produced by Grammy-nominated and longtime Dolly Parton collaborator Kent Wells. “He worked with Dolly for years, so I knew I was in good hands,” Bowman says of the experience. Wells introduced her to other great writers including Keith Burns of Trick Pony and Pete Sallis, who co-wrote “Shut Up and Fish” for Maddie & Tae.
Lindsay Bowman’s debut single is the perfect “anti-Valentine’s Day” anthem for all of those celebrating Galentine’s Day with empowering lyrics such as, “I hope it burns you up that I’m just fine on my own.” “You Don’t Get To Know” can be found on all major streaming services, including iTunes and Spotify and will be followed with a music video soon. You can follow Lindsay Bowman at @iamlindsayleigh on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat to find out where you can see her live.

LINDSAY BOWMAN FIERCELY SAYS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH IN NEW SINGLE "YOU DON'T GET TO KNOW"

Have you been craving that energetic and fierce 90s country sound from artists like Reba, Wynonna, and Martina? Then have to check out Lindsay Bowman’s new song “You Don’t Get to Know.”
Modeling her songwriting and sound after those women of the 90s, Bowman has a truly authentic country voice that transports you back to that decade we’ve all come to love and appreciate. She takes that 90s sound and applies it to a modern topic like dating and breaking up in the digital and social media world.
Bowman doesn’t pull any punches as she fiercely decides enough is enough with the texts and social media likes with sharp lyrics like “You thought the grass was greener, but boy your reap what you sow” and “Every time I post, you’re the first to check up on what I’m doing and who I’m with.”
The song is based on a true story for Bowman as she explains to Raised On It. “I was going through a breakup. One of my favorite things about writing with other women is that it’s kind of like a therapy session. We were catching up on life and the drama and feelings of a breakup.”
“My ex was wanting to know what I was doing and asking me questions, and I finally said ‘You don’t get to know these things anymore. We’re not together.’ The song came easy after that.”
“You don’t get to know these things anymore. We’re not together.“
“That’s one of my favorite things about songwriting. It’s just so real and relatable because you’re telling a story and most of the time it’s actually something that actually happened to you or that you’ve gone through.”
Bowman use to be in a country duo before she recently made the switch to focus on her solo career as an artist. She has a collection of songs ready to share with the world so why this song first?
“When I went in to meet with my producer, I wanted that 90s country feel and the finished product was so right,” says Bowman. “The hope is to give other women who want to feel empowered something they can listen to and say ‘You know what, I’ve been through that too. I can go out with my girlfriends, live my life and be me and leave the past in the past.”
Take a listen to the new release, add it to your playlist, and let your worries disappear.
